UW-L alumnus Dana Zimmerman's inner drive led him to earn a silver metal in the 2000 Paralympic Games in Sydney, Australia. It also allowed the young man with Cerebral Palsy to never let his disability stand in the way of his academic and athletic dreams. “In my head I was saying ‘believe, believe, believe — There is nothing that can prevent you. Go for it…,’” recalls Zimmerman.
The swing outside of Graff Main Hall holds a lot of significance for UW-L alums Jenn O’Neill and Michael Hemmer. After meeting as seniors on the UW-L Student Senate, O’Neill and Hemmer started dating. Their meeting place between classes and before dates was always the swing.
Therese Walth is brave, bold — and she has big hair. Walth, ’06, is playing the lead role of Tracy Turnblad in the Chanhassen Dinner Theatres’ production of “Hairspray,” the Broadway musical, Aug. 5-Jan. 28.
If you want to know how many years Karla Stanek has been on campus, just count the windows in her new Centennial Hall office. Three. One for each decade. Stanek, director of Career Services and the Academic Advising Center, has been helping students land internships and jobs since 1976.
